Football in Richmond has been around for almost 50 years. The RMFL has brought football to many boys and girls through the ages of 5 through 18. In the 1970's, Richmond enjoyed some of it's greatest success with well over 300 boys enjoying the game. The in-house league at all divisions was one of the largest clubs playing Canadian Rules football in the Lower Mainland and Fraser Valley.

Through the 70's and 80's, Richmond fielded a Junior football program. With the popularity of the younger kids in organized football, the Junior program did well fielding strong and powerful teams.

As was the case for many Richmond High Schools, the Junior Raiders played their last season in 1992. Many of these Junior Raiders got their start with the RMFL. Players like Paul Osbaldison went on to the CFL. Bobby Singh also got his start in the RMFL at a young age and worked his way to both the CFL and NFL.

The RMFL has practiced and played all over Richmond. From King George Park to South Arm Community center, the Richmond Raiders have moved around. Game days have been alternating between McNair High School and Minoru Stadium. Almost a tourist attraction, was the old "Spotters Booth" at McNair shown here.

Since 2009, the RMFL has moved all it's home games to Minoru Stadium in the town center. In 2009, the RMFL was proud to have hosted the VMFL Championships with the support of many volunteers.

The Year 2001 was quite an exceptional year for the RMFL. The 2001 Midgets went 12-1 through the year on their way to the VMFL and the Provincial Championships played at BC Place. 8 players made the all-star team this year. This team was a finalist in the Richmond Reviews " Team of the year." Coach Glen Kishi won Coach of the year in Richmond.

The RMFL looks forward to the next chapter of football in Richmond.
